Virtual Learning 2020-2021

MPS Commitment Form – Fourth Nine weeks

(Due March 5, 2021)

Greetings Halcyon families.....  We hope that this message finds you doing well in the current situation we find ourselves in and that you and your families are well.  Thank you from all of us at Halcyon for the dedication you have shown and the support you have provided to your student and the staff during this Virtual learning period.  The teamwork has been exciting and we are hopeful it will continue through the final nine weeks of the school year.

Below is the MPS Commitment Form link for the 4th nine weeks.  You are being asked to determine the most appropriate learning platform for your student for the 4th nine weeks of the school year and complete this form NLT Friday, March 5, 2021.  We ask that you please consider this decision seriously thinking of the following points:

  • Has my student engaged successfully on the Virtual platform? (attending class, good grades, communication, etc.)
  • Has my student begun to show social/emotional signs of missing school, the structure/organization of a school day, etc?
  • Are there circumstances that are keeping my student from being successful and participating on the Virtual platform? (parent schedules, not able to monitor performance, etc)

We ask that if you have questions or concerns about your students' learning platform placement for the 4th nine weeks that you reach out to your students' teachers or you are welcome to email Mrs. Schmidt or Dr. Doughty.  We will continue to practice daily cleaning/sanitizing practices, social distancing measures, daily health checks, and the wearing of masks for students and staff.  Transportation as well as Breakfast and Lunch will be provided for F2F students during the 4th nine weeks.

Once we receive results from the Commitment Form, our Faculty and Staff will begin making plans for student return on April 5th as well as the Virtual Learning week March 29th-April 2nd. Those plans will include the return of Chromebooks in preparation for ALSDE State testing, preparation of learning packets for a period of time for some grade levels, and scheduling ALL students in grades 2nd-5th to participate in the ALSDE State testing window (F2F and Virtual).
